Welcome to the Field Office!
Hi! I am Rebecca, the traveler and creative behind the Field Office.
| THE FIELD OFFICE
The Field Office is a unique combination of travel blog and studio—a storytelling platform I founded in Berlin in 2008. With a focus on travel and living a creative life, I take my readers down the road less traveled to discover unique experiences.
A curiosity of spirit is at the heart of the Field Office, where visual storytelling is the foundation of everything I create. Telling stories—whether they be about places, ideas, or people—with a thoughtful and genuine voice is what I’ve always done, long before it became a business.
The Field Office is currently based in
Berlin, Los Angeles, Marfa, Minneapolis, the Pacific Northwest.

I am a multimedia artist and storyteller who has never quite done things the conventional way. As a lifelong traveler, I’ve always documented my travels with a combination of film, video, sketchbooks, and writing. The Field Office is my platform for sharing these stories and helping others discover places off the beaten path.
My travel adventures started when I hitchhiked across France at age 18. Unable to bear the thought of stopping there, I created a DIY study abroad program for myself in Germany. Fast-forward some years and I’d traveled the Albanian coast in a taxi cab with my sister and spent some time in Berlin. It was this last visit to Germany that inspired my move to Berlin; I finished my MFA and settled in as an expat for six years.
My projects include a series of video diaries from Berlin and a year-long visual survey of Minnesota’s natural and built landscapes funded by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. My work has also been featured on the Instagram blog, VSCO Grid, Apartment Therapy, and New American Paintings.
I have been a speaker and visiting artist at Gustavus College and the Santa Fe Institute of Arts and am a recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the State of Minnesota. As an exhibiting artist, my work has been shown widely and placed in numerous corporate and private collections.
